Anyone who creates an account on Foursquare will automatically have a profile on both the Swarm app and Foursquare City Guide. While these profiles belong to the same account, the two apps offer similar features that often intertwine.
To add the profile photo:
- Click on the profile icon.
- Choose to upload a photo from your gallery or take an instant camera shot.
If the app won't upload a photo from your gallery, try taking a picture with your camera first (try both front and back cameras) and save it as your profile photo. Then, try changing it with one of the photos in your gallery. Remember, sometimes the simplest solution is the best!
Notifications
Notification settings are found in the settings area and are divided into three sections:
- Friend Check-Ins: Choose whether to receive notifications when friends check in. You can also mute specific friends or opt for notifications only when they're nearby.
- Notification Preferences: Select the types of notifications you want to receive, such as check-in reminders, Swarm product updates, game notifications, mayor oustings, coin earnings, friend requests, or messages.
- Notification Sounds: Toggle notification sounds on or off with a simple click of the button.
Remember, some devices may require manual permission for the Swarm app to send push notifications through your device settings.
Tips
Tips are like insider notes you leave for fellow Foursquare users to enhance their experiences at places. They can recommend must-try items or warn about busy times.
To add a tip, visit a place page in the app, tap the blue plus sign, then 'Leave a Tip.' Share your wisdom and add a photo if you'd like. Your History tab makes it easy to leave tips at places you've visited.
To edit a tip, find it and click ‘Edit’ on the web. You can only add photos to tips via the app.
To delete a tip, tap the tip detail, scroll down, and tap 'Delete this tip.' On the web, click the time/date, then "Delete."
Tip Voting:
- Upvote tips you agree with.
- Downvote outdated or offensive content.
- Reserve downvotes for unhelpful tips.
Your tips and attached photos are public, so be mindful of what you share.
