We know how important the check-in feature is for our community. Leaving your mark at your favorite location is priceless. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind when checking in.
What is Rapid Fire?
Rapid Fire is a feature that monitors excessive check-ins within a short timeframe. If you're checking in at numerous venues in quick succession or excessively within 24 hours, your account may be flagged. Points, badges, and mayorships won't be awarded for check-ins exceeding these limits. While it's fine to check in at various places, excessive drive-by or walk-by check-ins are discouraged. Keep your check-ins genuine to avoid encountering this issue!
How long does it take for Rapid Fire flags to reset?
Rapid Fire flags reset based on check-in limits within the past few minutes and the last day. If you exceed these limits, you won't earn coins, stickers, or mayorships during that period (it's a rolling time period). Exceeding these limits may occur if you check in faster than the system predicts travel or if you consistently check in from distant locations. Ensure you check in only where you are and avoid excessive check-ins to prevent location issues.
Why Aren't I Earning Coins for Check-ins?
There are a few reasons why you might not receive coins for your check-ins:
1. Distance Issue:
If you're too far away from the place you're trying to check into, you may not receive coins.
For instance, if you try to check in from your desk after returning from a lunch spot, it might register as too far away.
Please note, that if you're checking into places like roads, trains, or highways, signals from your phone may mistakenly indicate you're too far away.
2. Check-in Frequency:
If Swarm detects you're checking in too frequently, you may not earn coins for those check-ins.
Checking in too rapidly or frequently may affect subsequent check-ins.
Remember, only check in when you're actually at a place to ensure you receive coins.
3. Missed Check-ins:
Forgot to check in at an event? Had bad reception? Don't worry.
If Swarm believes you were at a place but didn't check-in, it will suggest it to you later so you can retroactively check in and earn coins.
4. Sensitive Venue Categories:
Certain venue categories, like Medical Centers, do not award coins out of respect for user privacy and preferences.
Rest assured, your check-ins remain in your history regardless of the coins earned.
